Mandy McDonald-Brashear currently serves as Vice President of Global People for Walmart. In this role, Mandy serves as the Human Resources Business Partner to the Chief People Officer and provides HR support to the Global People Organization (~4,600 associates across 20 countries). Prior to this role, Mandy held a rotational assignment as Senior Director of Learning Operations and Program Management Office for Walmart’s Enterprise Learning and Leadership function.
From 2018 through 2021, Mandy was the Head of People for Walmart’s Health & Wellness division within Walmart US. Mandy and her team had responsibility for the Recruiting, Training and Human Capital Management for Walmart’s Pharmacy, Optical and Walmart Health business across ~4700 locations in the US. While in this role, she led Walmart Pharmacy’s COVID vaccine Hiring and Retention incentives resulting in the hiring and accelerated onboarding of 4,000 pharmacy associates in 3 months. This program enabled Walmart to administer millions of vaccines, the majority of which went to medically underserved communities, which undoubtedly saved thousands of lives. She also built and stood up the People employment and operating model for Walmart’s first entry into integrated healthcare. Her team fully staffed and trained all clinical talent for the first-of-its-kind Walmart Health Center startup, “a Supercenter for Healthcare” in Dallas, Georgia and subsequently opened 23 additional locations within the next 18 months.
Mandy joined Walmart in July 2006 as a Corporate Learning Specialist and was quickly promoted in January 2007 to Program Manager, Executive Development. In this role, and as a relatively new hire, Mandy was entrusted with the company’s flagship Culture and Leadership program, The Walton Institute. In 2008, Mandy took a promotion to join Walmart’s International division as Senior Manager II, Organizational Development and was again promoted to Director of the HR Project Management Office. During her 4 years in Walmart International, Mandy led the creation of Walmart’s International Academy, the implementation of Walmart’s Global Women’s Strategy and led the cultural integration for the acquisitions into Chile and South Africa. While in this role, Mandy was appointed Chair for Walmart’s Women’s Resource Council and led this organization for a 2-year term and through a period of exponential growth as WRC expanded outside of the Home Office to the US Field and 28 International Markets.
After avoiding a “real HR job” for the first part of her career, Mandy finally listened to her mentor and began her journey as a People Partner in 2013 as the Senior Human Resource Business Partner for the Walmart US Marketing and US People organizations. In this role, Mandy led the people side of the omnichannel integration of Walmart Stores, eComm and Jet.com Marketing departments and People support for one of the first departments within the company to fully integrate across segments.
Prior to her Walmart career, and at the time the internet and cameras were first appearing on cell phones, Mandy worked for Sprint as a Learning and Development Manager and Market Account Executive. Mandy began her career while attending university full time at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri. She graduated in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in general studies with an emphasis in speech communication and HR management.
Public Service Bio
In July of 2018, Mandy caught the bug and decided to run for public office. She jumped in to a four-way race for a position on Rogers City Council that would be opening because of the retirement of the incumbent who held the seat for 16 years. Mandy campaigned on a platform of bringing a new perspective, more reflective of the rapidly changing demographic of a growing city, to the leadership team. She was successful in winning the spot outright in the 2018 general election and ran unopposed for reelection in 2022. She is currently in the second year of her second four-year term and enjoys the impact her involvement in local government is making for families in Rogers.
Personal Information
I have lived within the same 100-mile radius all of my life and only moved cities 3 times. Though I’ve had the opportunity to travel all over the country with work, I’m a firm believer that there is no place like home. I have two daughters, Anna (15), and Grace (10). In 2017, I married my husband, John, who is a lieutenant with the Rogers Police Department. In a moment of weakness in January of 2022, we expanded our blended family with the addition of a rambunctious golden-doodle puppy, Honey. When we aren’t chasing the dog, or running kids to activities, we enjoy renovation projects on our home in downtown Rogers, Arkansas.
