Eric Zenor

Eric Zenor is a passionate, learner-focused HRD practitioner with 35-plus years of experience in adult education, training, and human performance improvement. Innovation is the word used most often to describe his impact on organizations. His significant professional experience enables him to consistently recognize improvement opportunities and create “firsts” for organizations. A few of his notable “firsts” include working with a team to develop one of the first LMS platforms on the market, participating in developing the first SCORM standard, and creating an organization’s first enterprise-wide performance support system. He is motivated by an innate and expressive ability to design performance-focused learning opportunities using proven, research-based performance improvement methodologies.

Title of Session:  “Performance-Based Instructional Design”

Performance-based instructional design requires shifting focus from content to the learner. Effective performance-based learning involves human-focused analysis, criterion referenced objectives, and an approach that is not afraid of letting the learner make mistakes. In this session, we will review the key elements of performance-based analysis and design, discuss best practices in contrast to traditional approaches, and review samples of performance-based training programs. We will also collectively envision how a performance-based approach impacts traditional training modalities and discuss new ways of designing learning ecosystems.

Learning Objectives: Participants will:

  1. review the key elements of performance-based analysis and design.
  2. discuss best practices in contrast to traditional approaches.
  3. review samples of performance-based training programs
  4. envision how a performance-based approach impacts traditional training modalities
  5. discuss new ways of designing learning ecosystems

Title of Session:  “Integrating AI in L& D – An Interactive Workshop”

AI has quickly become a hot topic, with many L&D practitioners struggling to determine what it can do for them. Despite the hype, it seems certain that AI will reshape how we work. In this interactive workshop, we will explore the myriad ways AI can be leveraged by L&D practitioners in each phase of the ADDIE model. We will review the mechanics of prompt engineering, identify prompt engineering best practices, and practice creating prompts to generate outputs for a variety of different purposes, including analysis of content and media generation. We will also review the shifting AI landscape and discuss considerations for using different AI platforms.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:

  1. Identify ways to leverage generative AI to streamline traditional L&D tasks.
  2. Engineer prompts to produce text and image-based outputs.
  3. Recognize how AI can impact enterprise-wide learning experiences.
